Valley of Vision 3.10.10

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly, Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see Thee in the heights; hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold Thy glory. Let me learn by paradox that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit”  pg. [xv]

Josh’s Opportunities

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

As mentioned in Sunday’s post, Atmosphere is constantly getting many opportunities to serve in churches and areas around the State and even some across the nation. For a small taste of why we need your constant prayer and help in this, here is Josh’s schedule of speaking for the next month or so. Please keep him in prayer through it all.

Feb 4th – 7th  | Verge 2010 Missional Community Conference

Josh flies out this Thursday for Texas. Pray for his travels, and as he works to connect with conference speakers, build a firmer foundation for our Student Life Groups and learns how we as Atmosphere can be more missional minded. He will also be working on some writing and reading while he’s gone, so pray for his productivity. Follow good quotes, highlights and photos from him on twitter.

Feb 13th | Atmosphere and 5:00 Service

In addition to preaching at Atmosphere Park Ave. and Oak Hill, Josh will be preaching at the 5:00 Saturday evening service. This is also the weekend where a number of us will be away at Snow Camp, so pray for us, but also for Josh, Tim, Richard, Carol, and others as they try to meet the needs at Atmosphere while missing some of us.

Feb 19th -21st | Winter Blast: Rumney

Josh will be speaking 4 times: once on Friday evening, twice on Saturday and lastly on Sunday evening. Pray as he prepares the message of the Gospel, and for his travel, wife, and kids as he will be away for the weekend.

March 12th | Winter Bash

Josh joins Joel and Janna at the True Love Waits Winter Bash: Message for Hope and Purity. Pray that he will have the right, Gospel-centered message for the teens that attend. May Christ be glorified there.

Above all pray that the gospel goes forth, God is made much of and that he stays healthy. Also for his wife and kids since he will be gone a lot.

Atmosphere and Haiti

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Galatians 6.10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

With the tragedy that struck this past Tuesday in Haiti, Atmosphere is taking some action. We hope that you have been praying for the people in Haiti, the workers, and that God would pour out relief and support upon the people who are there suffering. Haiti is already the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, with 80% of the people below the poverty line, and with this earthquake they are now left nothing. What can we do thousands of miles away? How can we help? What can a youth ministry from Maine do? Here are some things we are doing!

What are we doing? There are a couple different things we are doing.

Giving: This weekend all the money that is giving during the Atmosphere service will be given to help the relief efforts in Haiti. Our goal is to raise $1,000.00 this weekend (Jan 16th & 17th) that is almost 10x our normal giving.

Praying: Tonight we will spend an extended amount of time in prayer for the people in Haiti. But since this tragedy is not just going to go away over night, for the next month we will spend time in prayer at both Atmosphere services for the people of Haiti the workers, and the Gospel to go forth.

Connecting:
We are going to have a page on the site connecting you to different ministries that are helping in Haiti, because we know that there is extreme need we want you to pray about giving even more, these links will help you do that.

Going?
: We are prayerfully considering putting a team together to go to Haiti. Now don’t get all excited, this team would go down in a year or so. After all the craziness of going has died down there will still be much to be done. We are praying about leading a team down in 2011. Pray with us.

Why?: Our motivation comes from what Jesus did on the cross for us. Right now there are thousands of people who have nothing, and we sit here with everything. 2 Cor. 8.9 says “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” We give because He gave; we pray because He is praying; we connect because He connected with us and we go because He came.

Atmosphere Church is excited to be teaming up with Salt and Light (SnL) this February for Snow Camp. The guys over at SnL have been great to work with and this promises to be a great time of fellowship, teaching, worship, and growth as we look at the cross of Christ in our lives.

Prepare your Soul 1.2.10

Friday, January 1st, 2010

As we finish up the book of Galatians this weekend (weather pending*) we not only have a chance to reflect on what God has spoken to us in the past 5 months of this series, but we also are stepping into a new year and decade. In the final verses of Galatians Paul recaps the whole of the book. With the main point coming in vs 14. As we read through this may we ask ourselves where our boast is.

Galatians 6.14: But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

There are so many different things we may boast in in our lives, but none of them compare to the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What have you boasted in in 2009? What are you planning on boasting in in 2010?

*If there is no Atmosphere due to weather it will be posted by 4pm Sat & noon on Sun here on our website and also Facebook, twitter etc…
